Twinning
Careful consideration is given to the selection of our Rams.
Every Ram was a twin himself and as a result we experience multiple twins resulting in our clients regularly achieving a lambing percentage of 160% plus.
Growth
From a low birth rate MEAT PLUS lambs achieve high growth rates to 60kg. In a normal season we are seeing the following age / liveweight milestones:
- Birth weight 3-4kg
- 12 weeks 36-46kg
- 20 weeks 50-60kg
Self Replacing
MEAT PLUS have the ability to self-replace from numerous breeds which, combined with the high lambing %, enables a quick mob rebuild.
Lambing Ease
One of the real strengths of the MEAT PLUS breed is the low birth weights, which suits both young maidens and is ideal for Class for Age (CFA) Merinos.
The small smooth shoulder structure ensures easing birthing and enables your ewes to recover quickly.
Low Maintenance & Soundness
Our attention to detail in selecting MEAT PLUS Rams and our commitment to continuous improvement ensures the lambs have:
- Structural soundness in the legs and feet
- A Clean Breech to avoid fly strike
- Limited foot scold which is particularly important in a wet year such as 2020.
Dressing %
The industry average for dressing % is 46 – 47%.
MEAT PLUS lambs consistently achieve a dressing % of 49-52% which some processors understand and will pay a premium in the marketplace for.

Carcase Flexibility
No matter if you are marketing lambs for the retail or export trade the MEAT PLUS lambs are suitable. We have clients who need to have finished lambs from 18-40kg carcase weight, and these lambs won’t disappoint.
